It’s DECA the Halls December at Merrill High School (MHS). Students in Business Club/DECA are decorating for Christmas and helping spread holiday cheer. They’ve organized special dress-up days for everyone for each Friday school is in session through the month of December.

Dec. 3 was Pajama Day, Dec. 10 is designated “Anything but a Back Pack” Day, Dec. 17 will officially be Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, and Dec. 22 [which is a Wednesday but the last day of school for the month] is Christmas Spirit Day. Attire for these special days will be judged in the Field House, and students can win prizes.

“MHS Business Club/DECA spreads holiday spirit throughout December with surprise visits to students and staff by a pack of candy cane-wielding inflatable Santas,” said Olivia J. Dachel, Business & Computer Science Educator at MHS and the Club’s Advisor.

DECA Club members participate in the Warm Hands Warm Heart program and prepare to distribute gloves as a part of that project. Submitted photo.

The club also decorates the staff lounge for the holidays, hosts a staff brunch, and coordinates the distribution of 400+ gloves and snacks to students and community members through the Warm Hearts, Warm Hands project, Dachel said.
