Ellen J. Gilliard, of Gleason, died Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 90 years old. She was born on December 2, 1930, in Wauwatosa. Ellen worked for the Leonard Wild Potatoes Farms and for Friendly Village Nursing Home in Rhinelander doing laundry. She liked to spend time on the internet and going to casinos. She enjoyed following the Milwaukee Brewers and Wausau Wood Chuck Baseball teams, camping, gardening and caring for her pets.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Nicholson, Merrill, Cindy (Tim) Hanson, Gleason; a son, Jerry (Sally) Gilliard, Merrill; ten grandchildren Andrea (fiancée Shannon), Tamara (Mike), Ben (Lauren), Nick, Ted, Aimee (Jon), Dustin (Ken), Chase (fiancée Elise), Becky (Dusty), Chip (Jill); 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Fran; and two brothers, Charles and Russell. She was preceded in death by her mother Florence; a son, Robert Gilliard; a daughter, Linda Gilliard; sisters, Patsy, Ruby and Ella Mae; and the father of her children, Anton “Tony” Gilliard.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home. Procession to Forestview Cemetery in the town of Vilas will follow the services.
