The Sawmill Brewing Company’s 5th Annual Race to the Taps 5K event on Sept. 11. 2021, “was our most successful one yet, as we had over 300 participants!” said Zach Kubicek, co-owner of the Sawmill Brewing Company. That attendance was in large part due to the family-friendly activities and the 2-Mile Family Walk, in addition to the traditional 5K run. It may also have been because it fell on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and because this particular event earmarked proceeds to go to local Fire/EMS and Police programs.
“We raised $10,000, which we split between the Merrill Fire Department for a behavioral health training and the Merrill Police Department for their K9 unit!” Kubicek said.
“It takes a crew to put on a community event like this, and I would like to thank our amazing staff and volunteers that made it happen,” he added. “It would not have been possible without all of the countless hours spent leading up to, and on, race day.”
“Mark your calendars for the 6th Annual Race to the Taps on Sept. 10, 2022,” Kubicek added.
