Stadler is named Athlete of the Week

Cameron Stadler, Merrill High School (MHS) Senior, has been named Athlete of the Week for the week of April 15, 2021. Cameron is on the Merrill Bluejays Varsity Trap Team and has been on the Team since his Sophomore year in 2019 when he made 1st Team All Conference with a 23.33 average. (25.0 is a perfect score.) The Team didn’t get to shoot in 2020 due to COVID, but the Trap Team did start shooting at the end of March for the 2021 season. He has been shooting trap for five years, since the 8th grade.
Cameron learned to handle a gun safely starting one Christmas when he got a Daisy BB gun as a gift. “I started shooting when I was little,” Cameron said. He said his dad taught him to use the gun and he started out shooting empty soda cans in his backyard.
Cameron also played right outside defense for the Merrill Bluejays Varsity Soccer Team for four years. He is an Eagle Scout and works part time KB Body Shop as an after paint detailer and occasionally does paint prep work. After high school, he plans to continue working there, pursue a career in auto body work, and hopefully become a car painter. He has a 2.865 GPA.
Cameron enjoys archery hunting and gun hunting and has been licensed to hunt since he was 10 years old and hunts turkey and white tail deer locally. He has also taken trips to Wyoming and to Colorado to hunt many species of mammals, including elk with the bow, and antelope and mule deer with the rifle. In his free time, Cameron enjoys working on trucks, cars, four wheelers, and dirt bikes and occasionally pit bike racing with his friends.
He is the son of Nancy Stadler and Jason Stadler and lives in Pine River.
