Wheat, Skoviera named Athletes of the Week

MHS juniors Amelia Skoviera and Tessa Wheat proved to be a key element of the Bluejay varsity tennis squad’s success this season, as the team’s #1 Doubles duo. The pair would go on to be the first doubles team in 9 years (Olivia Heitz/Elizabeth Smith-2011) to earn a bid to the WIAA Sectional Meet in Eau Claire, on Wednesday. Oct. 7.
While Skoviera has been competing on the varsity tennis team since her freshman year, 2020 marks the first year for Wheat. Skoviera is also active in LINK Crew, The Nest, The Bluejay Beat school newspaper, and is a student rep for the MAPS Board of Education.
In her free time, Amelia enjoys reading, helping out at St. Johns’s Church, hunting and spending time with friends and family.
Daughter of Colleen and Aaron Skoviera of Merrill, Amelia currently maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. Following graduation in 2022, Amelia plans to attend either UW-Eau Claire or Medicine, to study pediatric medicine.
Wheat is also a member of LINK Crew as well Big Brothers Big Sisters, Student Senate, Junior Optimist Club and Art Club
In her free time, Tessa enjoys skiing, spending time with family, friends and her pets
Daughter of John and Kelly Wheat of Merrill, Tessa also maintains a flawless 4.0 GPA. Following graduation in 2022, she plans to attend a 4-year university, to study either veterinary medicine or recreational therapy.
