Merrill Police Department Calls for Service

October 4
At 2:48 p.m., a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

At 7:17 p.m., officers were dispatched to a fight in the area of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The two involved males were located just north of the Sheriff’s Office. This was found to have stemmed from a road rage incident in which one driver accused the other of tailgating him. The two pulled over and decided to engage one another in argument. One stated the two had shoved one another back and forth and the other stated the other had attempted to punch him but was unsuccessful. Both men were cited for disorderly conduct for their involvement in the altercation.

October 6
At 3:20 p.m., a caller reported she was locked out of her apartment and water was running out of the apartment. It was found the apartment was unlocked, however the bathtub was overflowing and water was leaking onto the bathroom floor which was locked. Officers assisted in the tenant in opening the bathroom door and turning off the water.

At 10:18 p.m., a caller reported finding a rooster perched on the window sill outside of a tavern. Officers located the rooster still perched on the window sill and were able to catch it and transport it to the humane society.

October 7
At 1:58 p.m., an officer made contact with an intoxicated male party in Kitchenette Park after he was observed urinating. The male was cited for Disorderly Conduct.

At 5:54 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a report of a hitchhiker on West Main St. Contact was made with the party and he was sent on his way. A short time later officers were advised that the party that had been contacted was actually a run away from Marathon County. He was relocated and turned over to his parents.

October 8
An officer responded to a vandalism complaint in the 600 block of East St. A parked vehicle had been egged overnight. No suspects at this time.

At 5:24 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with a male passenger. The male was found to have a warrant for his arrest and was taken to jail.

At 10:54 p.m., officers responded to a report of person located under a porch of a residence that fled from the area when confronted by the home owner. Contact was made with a male party located hiding in the area. That male provided officers multiple names that were found to be incorrect. His true identity was revealed when a deputy arrived and recognized him from previous contacts. The male was found to have a warrant for his arrest and will also face several other charges.

October 9
At 7:48 p.m., an officer responded to a garbage dumping complaint. A male party had bags of garbage dumped into a private dumpster. They only wanted the garbage removed. Contact was made with the suspect, whose name was on some pieces of mail in the garbage bags. The suspect came and removed the garbage.

October 10
At 11:42 a.m., officers responded to the office of Probation and Parole to take a male party into custody for a probation violation. He was transported to the jail.

October 11
At 4:07 p.m., an officer responded to a driving complaint. The caller stated that a vehicle was tailgating them on W. Main St. The vehicle was now parked but the caller wished for contact to be made with the driver of the suspect vehicle. The driver was contacted and warned for following too closely.

October 12
At 11:17 p.m. an officer responded to a report of a theft involving a person not paying for cab ride. A suspect has been identified and will be contacted.

October 13
At 9:40 a.m. an officer observed a male party walking on Memorial Dr. that he recognized. A warrant check was performed and the male was found to have active warrants for his arrest. The male was arrested.
