League of Women Voters to host Public School Financing discussion

The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) will be partnering with the Northwoods Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), in a joint September meeting to discuss the current issues of Public School Financing. The meeting will be held September 10th, 5:30-7:00 pm, at the Minocqua Public Library, 415 Menominee Street in Minocqua. Dr. John Sample, Superintendent of Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS), and Brian Dasher, MAPS Finance Director will be presenting.
Please join the LWVNOW and AAUW as Dr. Sample and Mr. Dasher give us insight as to how the $40 million budget of the Merrill Area Public Schools is managed. Included in their topics of discussion will be: How our schools are financed, Where the money goes and Why different schools get different amounts to educate each child. They will also discuss the effects vouchers have had on public schools, answer questions and respond to concerns. This meeting promises to be very interesting and enlightening, and is open to the public.
