Wilmer D. Krueger

Wilmer D. Krueger, 85, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Woodland Court Elder Services in Merrill.

Wilmer was born July 26, 1933, in Marathon County, son of the late Roman and Frieda (Radenz) Krueger.  He married Audrey Zemke on May 10, 1958.  She preceded him in death on January 23, 2015.  Wilmer enlisted in the United States Army on December 8, 1954.  He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1956 after serving stateside during the Korean Conflict.  Wilmer had worked at Marathon Electric as a welder.  He enjoyed hunting in his younger days, gardening and working outside, cutting firewood, taking road trips, and waltzing and polka dancing with Audrey.  Wilmer could fix almost everything and was always willing to help out.  Wilmer was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill.

Survivors include his brother, Ronald Krueger of Merrill; sister-in-law, Jean Krueger of Wausau; several nieces and nephews; and his special great-nieces whom he referred to as his granddaughters, Leslie and Emily Heckendorf.  Wilmer was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Krueger; parents, Roman and Frieda Krueger; brother, James Krueger; and sister-in-law, Ann Krueger.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date.  Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
