A 54-year-old Wausau man was taken into custody Monday afternoon after deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive man in a car at a business in the Town of Pine River. Deputies suspected the man was drinking and placed him through field sobriety tests. He was cited for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
A 54-year-old Merrill woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon for obstructing an officer. A deputy was investigating an allegation of bail jumping and as a result arrested the woman on the misdemeanor charge.
Traffic on US Hwy. 51 in the Town of Pine River was slowed for over four hours Wednesday evening after a semi went in the median. The driver, a 64-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man, reported hydroplaning before his vehicle leaving the roadway. Deputies closed portions of the highway while crews worked to remove the truck just after midnight.
A 31-year-old Merrill man was arrested early Thursday morning. The man was taken into custody on a disorderly conduct charge after deputies responded to the Town of Corning after a report was received of a disturbance.
A 21-year-old Rib Lake man was injured Saturday afternoon after a single vehicle rollover in the Town of Corning. The man refused medical transport.
A vehicle struck a deer then caught fire Sunday morning in the Town of Bradley on County Rd. E. All occupants were able to safely exit the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported.
A 42-year-old Merrill man was injured after a single vehicle crash Sunday morning in the Town of Merrill. At 4 a.m. the driver was traveling on Hillside Drive when he left the roadway and struck a power pole and a tree. The driver was transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He will be cited for a third offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated as well as failing to maintain control of his vehicle and failing to wear a seatbelt.
Eleven people reported striking deer this week. A deputy on patrol struck a deer on County Rd. E south of County Rd. O in the Town of Bradley causing damage to his squad, no injuries were reported. On Saturday evening a Tomahawk woman struck a bear on County Rd. CC, that animal ran off. Just before 9 p.m. Saturday an Irma man struck a calf that had gotten loose on County Rd. K.
