James F. Peterson

James F. Peterson, 75, of Merrill, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Jim was born September 29, 1942, in Milwaukee, son of the late Robert and Rosalie (Klimek) Peterson.  Jim graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1961.  He married Bonita Rahlf on May 21, 1966.   She preceded him in death on May 30, 1998.  During the Berlin Crisis, Jim served his country as a member of the Wisconsin National Guard.  Jim had worked as a foreman at J.I. Case in Wausau.  He was member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lincoln County Sports Club and the ‘Old Timers’.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and spending time at his shack in Pine River.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Peterson, Merrill; two grandsons, Zachary Peterson and Konnor Peterson, both of Merrill; sister, Ginger (Ed) Pruesser, Tacoma, Washington; nieces and nephews; and several special friends including, Jim and Kris Lokemoen, Joe and Barb Carlson, and Tim and Donna Caylor.  Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita ‘Bonnie’ Peterson; son, Mark Peterson; parents, Robert and Rosalie Peterson; and brother, Larry Peterson.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill.  Father Chris Kemp will preside.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church.  The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
