Judging continues along with the Century Farm Award at the Lincoln County Fair

Another day terrific day, another terrific opportunity to visit the Lincoln County Fair.

Today’s events got off to noteworthy start with the Century Farm award in the activity tent. Presented by the Merrill Historical Society, the Century Farm award is given to a family that has kept a farm in continuous family ownership for over 100 years.

Recipients of this year’s award are Warren Sr. and Lois Latzig with thier Latzig Farm in the Town of Pine River. The Latzig family has been on the farm since 1891 with Heinrich & Joanna (Denow) Latzig. From 1909 through 1929, Henry & Augusta (Krueger) ran the farm; from 1929 through 1970, Walter A. & Elly (Krajewski) Latzig ran the farm; and from 1970 to the present, it has been Warren and Lois.

Many of the Latzig’s children and family were in attendance for this historic recognition.

Other events happening right away in the morning included poultry judging and the “Adventures in Dairyland” judging.

Events scheduled for later today include a butter carving contest at 4 p.m. and a pie eating contest at 5:30 p.m. in the activities tent. Dually Noted will also be playing again in the activities tent at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Geoff Landon & Branded will be performing in the Bull Falls Brewery Tent from 8:30 p.m. to close and Eagles tribute band Hotel California will be playing at the Grand Stand at 7 p.m.

Their is also a slew of great food, fun games, and exciting rides every day, so come on down!
