Marlowe Roeder

Marlowe Roeder, age 81, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2016 at Pine Crest Nursing Home. He was born August 20, 1934 in Wausau to the late Erwin and Lorinda (Thurs) Roeder. On July 2, 1960, Marlowe and Shirley Akey were united in marriage at First Presbyterian Church in Merrill. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Marlowe attended Trinity Lutheran School in Merrill. He worked many years for Alfred Johnson and John Johnson. Marlowe and his son Mark started their own business, Roeder Painting. Marlowe was self-employed there until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Marlowe liked passing time playing cribbage or going to the casino. He was known for sense of humor and quick wit. Marlowe enjoyed being around people and especially loved spending time with family. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Merrill.

Survivors include his wife: Shirley Roeder, Merrill; daughter: Debbie (Dean) Lemke, Merrill, son: Mark (Lynn) Roeder, Merrill; grandsons: Michael Latzig and Nicholas (Holly) Latzig; great-grandchild: Prim Latzig; two sisters: Joni Annis (late husband, Phil), and Eunice (special friend John) Roeder; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Lorinda Roeder, step-mother, Frances Roeder, and brother-in-law, Phil Annis.

Funeral services for Marlowe will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Waid Funeral Home. Rev. Jess Wakefield will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of service also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park. Waid Funeral Home of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.
