Tired Hatchets fall to Hodags

The Hatchet boys swim team hosted its final home dual of the season in Thursday’s Parents Night meet with Rhinelander, but a host of factors led to a 105-64 loss.
“Thursday night was a rough one for the Hatchets,” THS coach Marion Kohl said. “After our three-meet week last week, as well as the combination of an abundance of long yardage in the pool, difficult dry-land workouts (weights, etc.) earlier in the week, semester end work and finals in school, the swimmers are pretty tired and sore. We had hoped to keep the Hodags both under 100 points and less than 30 points apart in score, but it just wasn’t in the cards.
“Times were also pretty static, if not a bit slower for many of the boys as well, again due to the fatigue.”
Logan Loretz was a double-winner in the 50 free (:23.86) and 100 brea (1:14.83).
Runner-up finishes came from Nathan Goehe (200 IM, 2:27.81/500 free, 5:58.91), Jacob Miller (100 back, 1:11.10), the 200 medley relay (Miller, Loretz, Goehe, Peyton Hamm, 1:55.77), and the 200 free relay (Goehe, Tyler Larch, Hamm, Loretz, 1:45.89).
Tomahawk will host the GNC Meet with all six GNC teams on Friday, Feb. 5.
