A 21-year-old Tomahawk man was taken into custody last Monday evening after deputies in two counties searched for a reported impaired driver. Just after 5 p.m. a cell 911 caller reported a vehicle traveling on US Hwy. 8 was crossing over the marker lines and at one time almost went into the ditch. The vehicle went south on US Hwy. 51 and when it exited at County Rd. A outside of Tomahawk the caller witnessed a beer can being thrown out of the window. When a deputy first caught up to the truck, it was parked at an establishment on County Rd. A in the Town of King. When the deputy drove by a few minutes later, the truck was gone. A short time later, an Oneida County Deputy observed it driving on US Hwy. 8 at County Rd. A. The vehicle initially failed to yield but finally stopped on County Rd L just into Oneida County. After field sobriety tests, the driver of the operator of the vehicle was arrested for first offense OWI. He was later released to a responsible party.
A 35-year-old Merrill woman was arrested late Tuesday evening after deputies assisted the City of Merrill Police Dept. on a disturbance in the City of Merrill. At 11 p.m. a caller reported a disturbance at a convenience store on E. Main St. As Merrill Police Officers were tied up on an emergency, deputies assisted. They learned the 35-year-old, a customer, was told she could only use a certain cup to obtain water at the soda fountain, not soda as she had not paid for any. The woman filled the cup with lemonade and when she walked by the customer she shoved him, prompting him to call 911. The woman told the deputy that the customer gave her a look but the shove was an accident. A check showed the woman was on supervision through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and she was violating the rules of her probation by drinking. A warrant was also found through the Langlade County Sheriff for contempt of court. The woman was taken into custody and brought to the Lincoln County Jail and held.
Emergency services from several agencies responded to the Harrison Hills area Wednesday night after a caller to 911 reported a missing three-year-old child. The call came in just after 5 p.m. on a no-name road north off of Ski Hill Road. The caller advised the three-year-old male was playing with his sisters near the water but when adults checked on them sometime later the child was gone. The Town of Russell Fire Department along with Tomahawk Firefighters and dive team members, Tomahawk EMS and deputies were all responding to the scene when the caller called back about 10 minutes later and reported the child had been found by family members roughly a mile from where he was last seen. The family indicated they were visiting the area and the child was fine.
A 49-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested Friday evening on several counts after deputies responded to a complaint in the Town of Bradley. The clerk of a gas station on County Rd. L told deputies that an intoxicated man had exposed himself to her while in the store and he was now in the parking lot drinking a beer. When a deputy arrived on scene, the man resisted efforts to take him into custody leading the deputy to hold him at taser point until a back-up deputy arrived. The suspect admitted that his pants had fallen down but he told him it was an accident. The suspect was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with disorderly conduct, lewd and lascivious behavior and probation violation. On Saturday the investigating deputy issued him a citation for furnishing alcohol to a minor after he learned the suspect gave a can of beer to a 19-year-old female before the deputy arrived at the gas station.
A 54-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested Sunday afternoon on a warrant charge. A deputy and Tomahawk Police Officer located the man at a residence in the City of Tomahawk. The man had a warrant issued through the Lincoln County Court of failing to pay child support. The man was brought to the Lincoln County Jail and held.
A 77-year-old Gleason man was arrested Sunday afternoon after deputies investigated a complaint in the Town of Russell. A store clerk in Gleason reported a customer had been coming into the business during the past week and had touched her inappropriately and did other things which scared her. The woman learned the man is a convicted sex offender and phoned the Sheriff’s Office. A deputy checked with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections who confirmed through GPS tracking that the man had been to the store numerous times in the past week. The suspect was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was held on a probation violation charge. A complaint to the district attorney for stalking will be forwarded.
A 47-year-old Wausau man was arrested Sunday afternoon on warrant charges. Deputies investigated a disturbance at a Town of Merrill Home. Deputies had responded to a home on County Rd. K just after noon when a 911 caller reported a physical disturbance. When they arrived they found the participants had fled the scene but had left items of drug paraphernalia behind. Around 4 p.m., a caller reported that people had returned to the home. When they arrived they found one of those present was wanted by the Portage and St. Croix County Sheriff for failing to pay child support and for a felony charge of hit and run causing injury. The man was brought to the Lincoln Jail where he was held. Deputies are awaiting interviews in order to resolve the items of drug paraphernalia.
The number of car deer crashes is down slightly with 12 being reported.
