Healthy Living with Diabetes Workshop

Do you or someone you know:
•Live with type 2 diabetes?
•Have pre-diabetes?
•Live with someone who has diabetes?
The Aging and Disability Resource Center will be offering a Healthy Living with Diabetes Workshop series every Tuesday beginning June 23-July 28 from 1:00-3:30 pm at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Merrill.
Healthy Living with Diabetes is a six-week program designed by Stanford University for people with diabetes and their caregivers. During the workshop, participants receive support from trained leaders and other workshop participants, learn practical ways to manage their pain and fatigue, learn about reading food labels, planning low-fat meals, preventing low blood sugar, exercise options, foot care, learn better ways to communicate about their conditions with doctors and family members, problem-solving and goal-setting.
The goal is to help people better manage their health conditions and deal with the frustration, fatigue and pain that can accompany diabetes.
Past participants in a Healthy Living with Diabetes workshop have reported increase energy, reduced stress, more self-confidence, and fewer doctors’ visits.
Pre-registration is required (seating is limited). For more information about this upcoming workshop or to register, please contact Jennifer Clark at the Aging and Disability Resource Center (715) 536-0311. Cost: $10 suggested contribution.
