Sex offender to be released

On April 7, Alexander Schultz, 22, will be released to Community Supervision administered by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Schultz plans to reside in the city of Merrill, which was his place of residence at the time of his conviction. He is not wanted by police at this time. Schultz will be on Community Supervision until April 11, 2019. Upon release, Schultz will be placed on Intensive Supervision, and will be subject to the Department of Corrections Electronic Monitoring Program and Global Positioning System.
The Merrill Police Department is releasing this information to inform the public. Sex offenders have always lived in our communities. It was not until the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry and Community Notification Law was enacted that law enforcement was able to share this information with the community.
Schultz was convicted in May 2010 of 3rd degree sexual assault in Lincoln County. He sexually assaulted a 15-year-old female acquaintance with the use of force.
Schultz will be required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program until March 2030. The registry can be located at www.widocoffenders.org.
If you have questions or concerns regarding Alexander Schultz, please call the Merrill Police Department at 715-536-8311.
