Kathy E. Somers, age 58, of Merrill, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born September 10, 1957 in Rhinelander to the late Leslie and Charlotte (Baker) Somers.
Kathy was a 1975 graduate of Rhinelander High School. She had taken courses toward an accounting degree. Kathy was a homemaker. She loved collecting angels and enjoyed working puzzle books. Kathy loved cats and always looked forward to spending time with family and friends, especially when they played games. She will always be remembered for her big heart and how she helped others. Kathy was a great listener and always seemed to have time to sit and listen.
She is survived by her daughter: Shannon (Rick) Brandt, Wausau; one granddaughter; five sisters: Mary (Ronald) Krueger, Eagle River, Leslie (Gregory) Wise, Irma, Angela (Daniel) Zastrow, Robin (Thomas) Germer and Patricia (Robert) Shepard, all of Rhinelander; two brothers: Michael Somers, Tomahawk, and Kevin Somers, Merrill; her kitty and loving companion: Pansy; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Sean O’Brien.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 8th 2015 at Waid Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of service also at the funeral home. An inurnment of her ashes will take place in the Harshaw Cemetery at a later date. Waid Funeral Home of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.
