Raiders reach THS

The THS boys dropped a pair of games last week, losing 55-43 at Hayward on Monday, and 47-36 to Medford at home on Friday.
An 8-2 start helped the Red Raiders reach 21-8 by halftime. Medford led 26-16 after three and out-scored THS 21-20 in the fourth.
“Medford was very patient and deliberate in the half court, and they broke us down on several occasions and got wide-open lay-ups or wide-open threes which they nailed,” THS coach Tim Albert said. “We have to be better at limiting penetration.”
Hatchet production came from Jordan Roessler (19), Justin Jarvensivu (5), Brandon Vecchio (5) and Andrew Olson (4).
Wayward in Hayward
The Hurricanes gradually built leads of 12-8, 22-16 and 35-27 before Tomahawk cut it to six points in the fourth. Free throw conversion put it away.
“We did a good job of taking care of the basketball, we just didn’t shoot a high percentage and didn’t attack enough,” Albert said. “We only got to the free throw line six times, and when you aren’t shooting the ball well, you need to find other ways to score. On defense, we allowed way too many second chance opportunities.”
Offerings for Tomahawk came from Roessler (17), Jarvensivu (10), Vecchio (9), Olson (4) and Jordan Shilts (4).
