Grace H. Hass

Grace H. Hass, age 96, of Merrill, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Bell Tower Residence under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. She was born March 31, 1918 in the Town of Corning to the late Frederic and Adele (Lurs) Behrens. She and Edward Frederick Hass were united in marriage on June 2, 1945 in Merrill. He preceded her in death July 23, 2001.
Grace was always busy working whether it be on the family farm or in her home, she always found plenty to do. She had waitressed at the old Badger Hotel, worked for a number of families as a housekeeper and nanny, and was a substitute food server with MAPS. Grace enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening, going for walks, visiting shut ins, family & friends, making crafts, playing card games and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid where she was very active, Merrill Historical Society and a former 4-H Leader. Grace was a 66 year member of HCE (formerly Lincoln Co. Homemakers).
Survivors include her two sons: Richard (Susan) Hass, Merrill, WI; and Tom (Debra) Hass, Menomonie, WI; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Hass, Bend, OR; five grandchildren, Scott Hass (Amanda Tomcek), Merrill, WI; Elizabeth (Jonathan) Cluppert, Woodruff, WI; Matthew (Greta) Hass, Osakis, MN; Catherine (Josh Gobershock) Hass, Bend, OR; and Michelle (Erik) Luetkemeyer, St. Louis Park, MN; nine great-grandchildren: Daniel, Christopher, Kelsey, Megan, Grace, Ruth, Wesley, Claire and Blake; three sisters-in-law, Aurlie Hass, Hildegarde Seeger and Lorene Hass;  brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Geraldine Hass; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward, son Brian Hass, sister Bertha Holmes, and brother, William Behrens.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 5 at Bell Tower Residence and again from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Town of Scott.
Memorials may be given in Grace’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, WI, The American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, or the Merrill Historical Society.
