Post 93 rolls into regional

Tomahawk’s American Legion Post 93 kept on rolling last week, adding three more victories to boost their record to an impressive 21-1 heading into Wednesday’s regional opener with Nekoosa in Marathon.
Post 93 topped Rhinelander 9-4 on Friday, then edged Altoona and bested Rock Falls on Saturday.
Rock Falls surged ahead 6-4 with a six-run fourth, but Tomahawk answered with a five-run fifth to seal up the 9-6 win.
“This was another great effort,” Post 93 assistant coach Wes Roessler said. “The guys are playing sound baseball and doing a lot of things right. They never get down on themselves or get rattled. It would have been easy to give up after losing the lead and giving up a big inning.
“Kevin (Bolder) had a huge day. He drove in five runs and had a total of three home runs in the two games we played (Saturday). Dakota (Thompson) did a really nice job getting on base and scoring runs for us today. It was also exciting seeing Steven (Renn) hit a home run.”

It took a five-run fifth just to get back into the Altoona game and a solo score in the sixth to clinch it.
“We came into this weekend planning on getting everyone playing time and the pitchers innings preparing for regionals,” Roessler said. “Our guys performed great in all categories. We had solid pitching, defense and hitting.
“Kevin had a great day at the plate hitting two homeruns. Brad Jarvensivu has come up with some key hits. Everyone on the team was able to contribute to this win. It was a great team effort.”
