Dawn M. Williams

Dawn M. Williams, age 51 of Merrill, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield surrounded by family, friends and wonderful nursing staff.

Dawn was born October 12, 1961 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Rolland and Marjorie (Hassel) Williams. She had attended Tomahawk High School. She and Keith Gerke were united in marriage a union that lasted for 13 years. Dawn had worked at Pine Crest as a C.N.A. for a number of years. Dawn had received three gold medals during downhill slalom tryouts, landing her a spot on the U.S. Para-Olympics team in 1984, where she competed in Innsbruk, Austria. Many of her hobbies included beading, making jewelry, kayaking, skiing, camping, bon fires. She had such a zest for life, she enjoyed being with people, spending time with her cat “Magic” and her trip out west to Mt. Rushmore. Dawn was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ.
Survivors include: her mother: Marjorie Williams, Tomahawk; siblings: Bruce (Melody) Williams, DePere; Keith (Tammara) Williams, Fox Point;
Clifford (Renee) Williams, Merrill; Marjorie (Raymond “Buzz”) Fehrmann, Merrill; Michael (Janet) Williams, Larson; Eugene (Susan) Williams, Merrill; Dorothy (Tammy) Williams, Green Bay; Soul Mate: Keith Gerke; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Rolland, and her Paternal and Maternal grandparents.
Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Saturday, August 17 at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, with Pastor Linda Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Town of Rock Falls. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at the funeral home and again Saturday 1pm until the time of service at the church. The family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Meyer and the nursing staff 7 North at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. The Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family.
