Carl and Jane Bierman honored by Merrill Historical Society

The newly constructed portion of the Merrill History & Culture Center at 103 E. 3rd St. will be named the Carl and Jane Bierman Wing to honor the two Merrill residents and business people for their contributions to the building project, according to Bea Lebal, Merrill Historical Society President.
The Biermans’ generosity will be memorialized with a bronze plaque located in the main entrance on the donor recognition wall. The Carl and Jane Bierman Wing contains the exhibit hall, research library and museum administration facilities.
Major gifts announced
The naming of the Bierman Wing was announced at a donor recognition and sneak-preview tour event in April. Lebal also announced the Historical Society had received a $50,000 contribution from the Judd S. Alexander Foundation and a $15,000 contribution from the B.A. and Esther Greenheck Foundation, both of Wausau.
As the $1 million project – construction of the new building and renovation of the Heritage Wing – nears completion, Lebal said the Historical Society looks forward to inviting the entire community to a grand opening event in the near future.
