Koch earns rank of Eagle Scout

Nathan Koch of Merrill has earned the Eagle Scout award. Nathan’s Eagle Court of Honor was held Sunday, April 7, at St. John Lutheran Church. Nathan was recognized by his troop leaders as well as State Representative Mary Czaja.
Nathan, age 14, is the son of Eric and Sherry Koch. Nathan joined Cub Scouts as a Tiger with Pack 599 at St. John Lutheran Church. Cub Master and Dad, Eric Koch, presented Nathan with the highest award in Cub Scouting, the Arrow of Light. He then crossed over to Troop 599.
Nathan has become the first boy in his patrol to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Currently, Nathan serves as the Troop Guide for the group. He has also participated as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Chaplain’s Aide, Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader. In 2012, Nathan completed the National Youth Leadership Training, and became a member of the Order of the Arrow during his stay at Camp Tesomas.
For his Eagle Project, Nathan planned and gave leadership to the reconstruction of the dumpster area at St. John Lutheran Church. He organized a crew of Scouts and adults for the project.
Nathan is a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Nathan is an eighth grader at St. John Lutheran School. He is active in cross country running, track and cross country skiing. He is looking forward to attending Merrill High School next year.
