Georgia May ‘Mazie’ Kalbas, age 83, of Merrill, formerly of Parrish, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.
Mazie was born December 28, 1929. She married Robert W. Kalbas on June 19, 1948, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2005. Mazie and her late husband, Robert, raised Rottweilers and Wire-Hair Dachshunds at their kennel ‘Haus of Kalbas’, in Naperville, Illinois. They had many champions to their credit. Mazie also groomed dogs at their kennel. She loved all animals. Mazie and Robert spent a lot of time traveling; visiting friends and family across the U.S.
Survivors include her grandson, Richard (Aurelia) Pratt, of Irving, TX; four great-grandchildren, Brianda, Jenhifer, Jazmine, and Julie; one sister, Sue Warren, of Mesa, AZ; and one brother, ‘Bus’ (Jan) Franklin, of Branson, MO. Mazie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; one son, Kevin Kalbas; and her parents.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Burial will follow in Summit Cemetery, Town of Summit, Langlade County. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
