Mosinee tops THS

A fast start and strong finish helped Mosinee work a 62-49 win over the home team Tomahawk boys on Friday.
“We didn’t play as well as we would have liked,” THS coach Tim Albert said. “We turned the ball over too much and a lot of those turnovers led to easy baskets on their end of the floor.
“We also gave them too many easy opportunities in the half-court, as our defense wasn’t as good as it as been in the second half of the season.
“We will look to rebound in the final two weeks of the regular season, with six games in ten days.”
Mosinee jumped out 11-3 in the first quarter, but the Hatchetws rallied with a 20-14 second quarter, getting within 25-23 on a late bomb.
“It was nice to get that three as time expired in the half to give us momentum going into the third,” Albert said.
But Mosinee built the margin to 42-34 in the third, then finished it off with a 20-15 edge in the fourth.
THS scoring came from: Jared Jarvensivu (17); Fletcher Schoone (14); Jordan Roessler (7); Lorne Ahrens (6); and Chris Schoone (5).
Tomahawk was 6-10 on the season and 1-8 in the GNC. Mosinee was 7-10 and 4-5.
