Hatchets push Goliath again

The small Hatchet swim squad fell 113-52 to a deep Wausau East squad on Thursday.

“So, looking at the big picture once again,” THS coach Marion Kohl said. “The score was no worse than it was against Rhinelander two weeks ago and SPASH last week. They are larger than the Hatchet team and so again it becomes the numbers game. It especially hurts not to be able to field at least 2 teams in each relay event.”

Wins came from John Lazarz (200 IM, 2:26.52) and Joe Nettesheim (50 free, :25.25).

“Joe’s fastest time from last season was a :25.71 so he’s hitting stride early in his Senior year,” Kohl said.

Runner-up finishes came from: Alex Tollison (100 back, 1:18.26); the 200 medley (Tollison, Mason Brown, Lazarz, Nettesheim, 2:06.73, a 2-sec. cut); and the 200 free (Tollsion, Vic Ierulli, Lazarz, Nettesheim, 1:52.39, a 5-sec. cut).

Thirds were turned in by: Ierulli (200 free, 2:30.33); Lazarz (100 fly, 1:13.42); Tollison (100 free, 1:06.35); the 400 free (James Leet, Chris Weaver, Chase Hilgendorf, Ierulli, 5:05.86).
