On Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, the Merrill Girls Varsity Tennis Team hosted the DC Everest Girls in a Conference tennis match at Merrill High School. “I am so proud of the girls and how they played,” said Elizabeth Thiel, Merrill’s Head Coach. “Emily Frahm (1 Singles), Claire Hintz (3 Singles), and Greta Peterson (4 Singles) all won their first Conference matches of the season, earning us six points in our Conference, which is a four-point increase over last year’s total.”
“Every day, I tell the girls to keep their chin up and to stay positive,” she said. “Even though sometimes our scores don’t reflect it, Coach Wilde and I have seen vast improvement every time they step out onto the tennis court – in both their skills and their confidence in themselves.”
“The girls work extremely hard in practice, and tonight, it definitely showed,” Thiel said.
