The world lost a true ray of sunshine on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Therese “Terri” A. Kufahl, just turned 52 years old and passed away unexpectedly at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, with her family by her side. Terri was born on September 10, 1972, to Larry & Patricia (Polebitski) Peeters in Merrill, WI. Her father survives. She attended and graduated from Merrill High School. Terri met her soul mate and best friend, Jeremy Kufahl, and the two exchanged marriage vows on June 28, 1991, in Merrill, a union lasting 33 years.
Terri knew that she wanted to work with jewelry, even when she was younger, and she was able to fulfill that desire at Klug’s Country Gold in Merrill, where she had been for the last 28 years. Terri was the definition of beauty, in every sense of the word. She was a social butterfly that enjoyed making people’s day with little gifts or something to let them know she was thinking of them. Terri loved going camping with Jeremy every chance she could and going on the pontoon with friends. She enjoyed doing crafts with her mother and making all sorts of gifts for people. Terri really enjoyed the Wizard of Oz and had a love for frogs! Her grandchildren, or as she called them, her “littles”, were the joy of her life, her family was always first and foremost in her life. She had recently lost her little fur-baby, Lira, her sidekick for many years. Terri was selfless, vibrant, sweet, had a great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. Terri has left a void in many people’s lives, and she will be missed beyond words.
Terri is survived by her husband: Jeremy Kufahl, father: Larry Peeters, sons: Kurtis (fiancé Jessica) Kufahl and Tyler Kufahl, all of Merrill and her beloved grandchildren, her “littles”: Asher, Ember and Everly, as well as numerous life-long friends, new friends and friends she considered family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, mother: Patricia “Pat” Peeters, sister: Rebecca Peeters and her little fur-baby, her dog: Lira.
The visitation for Terri will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Waid Funeral Home. A prayer service officiated by Dan Seehafer will begin at 8:00 p.m. Interment at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that you send donations in Terri’s name to a charity of your choice, or buy some dog food or treats and bring to the Lincoln County Humane Society in Merrill, in memory of Terri and her little dog, Lira.
At a time like this, family wants to express gratitude to all of the family and friends that have been a true blessing to Terri over the years and the outpouring of love and support is heartwarming. Thank you.
