The Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce is thinking ahead to Christmas already – and their annual Christmas card. That means it’s time for the Chamber’s 14th Annual Christmas Card Art Contest.
Local artists of any age are invited to enter! Each contestant may submit one entry using any of the following two-dimensional mediums: acrylic, pen and ink, watercolor, or oil. All entries must depict a Merrill Christmas scene – past or present. Each entry should be 12×18” in overall dimension and must be accompanied by a completed application form. (To download the application, go to: merrillchamber.org/annual-christmas-card-art-contest or stop at the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce office at 705 N. Center Ave. in Merrill to pick up an application.)
Judges will select one image that captures the essence and spirit of the Christmas season in Merrill.
All submissions must be an original work of art, and submitted artwork becomes the property of the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce and may be used in various promotional displays. The winning artist will receive a $150 Merrill Chamber gift certificate, and the winning artwork will be reproduced on the Merrill Area Chamber’s 14th Annual Christmas Card and used in future promotions. Those Christmas cards will be available for sale during the upcoming Christmas season.
A limited number of larger prints of the artwork may also be produced.
Deadline for entry is Sept. 30, 2024.
“Last year (2023), we had two winners, Tamara Marczak (Three Arch Bridge) and Debbie Zimmerman (Banker’s Square Christmas Tree),” said Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce Program Director, Cheryl Skoug. “We are lucky to have these talented people right here in Merrill.”
“This is open to anyone to submit, and we encourage everyone to try,” she said.
