Mary Doering, age 77, of St. Germain, WI passed away in her sleep at home on Monday August 26, 2024 after an extended illness. She was born on November 27, 1946 in Merrill WI. She had attended college at Western Kentucky University and went on to work in various jobs in Wisconsin, Iowa, and California before returning home to Merrill WI where she married the love of her life, Marvin Doering on October 30, 1972. They would have celebrated their 52nd anniversary this October. She had two children Zara (Tate) Scharf and Noah (Rosalie) Doering and four grandchildren Violet (Conner Hogan) Scharf, Dorothea Scharf, Camille and Mitchell Doering.
She loved hosting family and friends, combining food and fun around the dining room table. Board games, cards, and dice were on tap most every weekend. Mary was a creative soul, having done stain glass, candle making, knitting, crocheting, flower gardening, and sewing. She was a voracious reader and successfully tackled the New York Times crossword puzzle every Sunday. She was active in the community and volunteered throughout the years. Mary and Marvin loved road trips near and far, especially beach locations and music festivals. She loved camping with her extended family, but especially the grandkids. She was everyone’s favorite Aunt Mary.
Mary was the oldest of nine siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Julia “Eileen” Zahn, brothers Tommy and Gerry Zahn. She is survived by Diane Henson, Rosie Roberts, Theresa (Al Ovsak) Zahn, Ronnie Zahn, Dina (Kerry Millerick) Sterr and Sheila (Dave) Saal as well as many brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life is planned from 1pm-4pm on November 2 at the Thunderbird in St. Germain, WI.
