Twenty years ago, Heather and Mark Gehring moved into their home at 503 W. Taylor St. in Merrill.
Faced with a large yard that was lacking in color, Heather began the journey to create a yard and garden that would be alive with vibrant color.
Each year Heather converts more of the yard to garden space and also frequently rearranges and adds more color to her existing gardens.
“She starts early in the spring before the snow melts using mini greenhouses in the basement,” Park City Gardens nominators said.
“Over the years, she has gathered some beautiful garden art pieces along the way,” they said. While some were purchased new, others were treasures discovered and aquired, as Mark has a love of old engines and farm equipment.”
While Mark said he takes little credit for the beautiful gardens, “it is evident that he is very proud of Heather’s creation,” nominators said. “The flower garden definitely welcomes you in and makes you smile when you pass by.”
Enjoy a walk or drive by the Gehrings’ Taylor St. garden before the beautiful blooms of their summer garden begin to fade.
