For the third year, Tim and Dawn Dunbar of Merrill will share their collection of completed Lego sets with the community. During the months of July and August, the T.B. Scott Free Library Beyond Books: Community ArtShare Exhibit will be: LEGO! LEGO! LEGO! and will feature a new selection of Lego creations from their collection.
On display, viewers can see the NASA Space Launch System sets, Walt Disney 100-year camera, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pirates of Barracuda Bay, the Friends apartment, a John Deere logging skidder, the Hocus Pocus Sanderson Sister’s cottage, and more.
Part of the Dunbars’ extensive collection of 686 Lego sets that they’ve built and have on display in their home, this year’s selection features just a tiny fraction of the roughly 430,000 individual Lego pieces they own within those creations. “Finding space to display them all continues to be an issue,” they said. The couple started collecting and assembling Lego sets in the 1980’s and hasn’t stopped since.
The variety in their collection is sure to delight young and old alike, as they marvel at how intricate many of these Lego creations are.
In addition, Tuesday, July 23, 2024, is Lego Day at the Library. Kids can enjoy Lego stations and other Lego-themed activities in the Youth Department and enter a drawing to win a Lego set of their own. Tim and Dawn will also be available from 4-6 p.m. that day to give tours of their sets, answer questions, and they will also be assembling a surprise Lego set. Stop by to see what it will be. “It’s going to be a Lego-riffic day!” organizers said.
