On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the Merrill City Band will perform a joint concert with the 132nd Wisconsin Army National Guard Band at Merrill High School auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. There is no admission charge. The City Band program will include some recognizable American music and medleys; an Irving Berlin vocal quartet “From Rags to Ritz” with Mary Waid, Tiffany Bucheger, Perry Scott, and Jim Bjorklund; the alto saxophone solo “Harlem Nocturne” with David Hastings; and a trumpet sextet on “Bugler’s Holiday” with three Merrill City Band members and three Army Band members. The Army Band will be smaller than usual, as some of their members are in Nicaragua. On their program are some patriotic pieces and marches, as well as a vocal soloist. Due to this special concert, there will be no Merrill City Band concert on Wednesday, July 3.
