For week ending May 26, 2024
On 05/25/2024 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on N. 4th St. and Mohawk Dr. in the city of Tomahawk for expired registration. In making contact with the driver, a 29-year-old man from Oak Creek, Wis., the deputy observed signs of impairment. When asked, the driver admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana. The driver was asked to do standard field sobriety tests and, as a result of those tests, he was arrested for a 3rd offense of OWI. The subject was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked in for the violation.
On 05/26/2024 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on USH 51 near the 211 mile marker for a speeding violation of 85 in a 65mph zone. When the deputy made contact with the driver, a 19-year-old woman from Wisconsin Dells, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana. Following a search of the vehicle, the driver was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Also, one of the passengers in the vehicle, a 21-year-old male from Linden, Wis., was also arrested for possession of marijuana. Both parties were transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
Deputies conducted 94 traffic stops and 22 security checks and responded to 14 car vs. deer crashes during this timeframe. The 911 Center took 7 hang-up calls and 10 nuisance calls. They also responded to 39 road-blocked complaints and 8 wire-down complaints as a result of the severe storm.
