The Merrill Varsity Bluejays Softball Team ran into a buzz saw at the Merrill Area Recreation Complex (MARC) versus DC Everest on Thursday night, May 9, 2024, which was also Senior Night for Merrill. Two DC Everest pitchers, Mara Meverden and Addison Kluck, combined for a six-inning no hitter, while striking out 13 Merrill batters. The Evergreens didn’t allow a runner to reach base, defeating the Bluejays 10-0.
“It was a tough game for us. They had strong pitching and we tried not to play into their strengths. It was difficult to lay off those rise balls, so we are trying to work on pitch selection and playing to our strengths,” said Head Coach Ali Krohn. “We will continue to work on pitch selection as we head into our final week and on to the post season.”

The Merrill Girls (5-14) traveled to Medford (11-7) on Friday night May 10, 2024, and came home with a win, 14-12. Mia Ott was the high scorer, bringing home three runs for the Lady Jays.
The Varsity Girls returned home for the Youth Night makeup game versus Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln on Monday, May 13. (Score not available at the time of printing.) The regular season finale was scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Wausau West.
The first round of regional matchups has been released and Merrill will host Rhinelander at the Marc on Thursday, May 16, at 4:30 p.m.
