Yvonne M. Lezotte, 80, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.
Yvonne was born May 6, 1943, in Neillsville, Wisconsin, daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Wenner) Schmidt. She married Alvin Lezotte on November 25, 1961, in Neillsville. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2023.
Yvonne had been a homemaker and farmer. She also worked in insurance sales, a photo shop and helped run their fabric store. In 1970, Yvonne and Alvin moved to Merrill. Yvonne worked in various positions at Prairie River Middle School in Merrill. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, knitting, camping, and fishing. She also enjoyed having coffee with friends. Yvonne and Alvin bowled in the Friday night league and in the Knights of Columbus league. They were also members of the Moose Lodge. Yvonne was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill, and was involved in the church choir, the handbell choir, and taught Catechism classes.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy (Allan) Klade of Merrill and Cheryl (David) Buck of Merrill; sons, Kevin Lezotte of De Pere, Brian (Cindy) Lezotte of Merrill, and Michael (Sandy) Lezotte of De Pere; daughter-in-law, Juli Lezotte of Merrill; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary (Gordy) Smith of Stevens Point, Arlene (Gilbert) Layton of Wisconsin Rapids, Carolyn (Jim) Foote of Manitowoc, Ralph (Karline) Schmidt of Neillsville; and Lorie (Tim) Thoma of Neillsville; sister-in-law, Beverly Schmidt of Neillsville; and special friends, Francine and Carol.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Lezotte; parents, Joseph and Josephine Schmidt; son, David Lezotte; grandson, Jacob Lezotte; daughter-in-law, Holly Lezotte; and brother, Richard Schmidt.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Mariadas Vallabhaneni will preside. Burial will take place in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.,Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.
