Everette L. Spiegel Sr., age 81 of Merrill, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Marshfield Medical Center following a brief illness.
Everette Lee Spiegel Sr. was born December 9, 1942 in the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, son to the late Adolph & Alice (Fraedrich) Spiegel. He attended school in Tigerton and graduated from Tigerton High School. Everette grew up on the family’s home farm and there was plenty to do. As an adult, his work ethic kept him busy as he was a handyman of sorts, doing side jobs for folks in the area. This was in addition to helping his brothers on the farm. He was united in marriage to Barbara Greipentrog on September 4, 1971 at Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton. He was a member of Grace Communion International Church, and enjoyed attending Highland Community Church, both in Wausau. Everette was strong in his faith and really enjoyed the community of folks at his churches. He could be found working in his large garden where he grew all sorts of vegetables and flowers for all to enjoy; he also loved to cook homemade meals for friends and family. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was what he cherished most. Everette was also thankful for the new friends he was able to spend time when they went out for coffee on Wednesdays. He will be remembered as a person who liked to make others smile, was fun-loving, and quite the jokester.

Grandchildren: Trinity (Tim) Manthe, Derrick Rickert, Star Spiegel, & Spencer Spiegel
Great-granddaughter: Viola
Brothers: Arden Spiegel, Menasha; Gordon Spiegel, Tigerton; Norbert (Amy) Spiegel, Oshkosh; & Lyle Spiegel, Tigerton
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; and his son, Scott Spiegel.
A private graveside service with urn burial will take place at Tigerton Union Cemetery at a later date.
