Shirley A. Wiroll

Shirley A. Wiroll, age 82, of Merrill, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at her daughters’ home in Antigo, while under the care of LeRoyer Hospice.  She was born on January 6, 1941 to the late Walter and Flora (Hehling) Tesch at St. Mary’s Hospital in Wausau.  Shirley married Rodney Wiroll on June 25, 1960 and had 3 children together.  Sadly, he passed away in 1979.

Shirley worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory and the Moose Lodge in Merrill.  She was a strong woman that cherished her time with family, enjoyed taking rides and watching squirrels and birds, especially the beautiful cardinals.  Shirley had always greeted her family members with an enduring “Hi Honey”.  She loved all of her “grandpuppies”, watching the Packers and listening to and dancing to Polkas.  She is remembered as a witty, goofy and loving woman that also had a quiet and gentle side.  Shirley would like to sit outside, enjoying nature, while also enjoying an ice cream cone!  Shirley will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Shirley is survived by her children: Tammy (Thomas) Tucker, Tim (Pam) Wiroll and Teresa (Troy) Postler, grandchildren: Derek Wiroll, Joshua Hall, Cameron Wiroll, Haylie Wiroll, Shyann Salo and Kyrie Tucker, great grandchildren: Brehkan, Kylor, KendyII, Parker, Aria and Noah. Shirley is further survived by a sister-in-law and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Rodney, parents: Walter and Flora, brothers: Walter Jr. and Ronnie, sister-in-law: June and nephew: Danny.

Per Shirley’s wishes, no formal services will be held.  A Celebration of Life for Shirley will take place at a later date.

Family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at LeRoyer Hospice for their care, compassion and support shown to Shirley and her family. Waid Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences are encouraged and may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
