The Merrill Girls Varsity Swim Team competed against Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln at the Prairie River Middle School (PRMS) pool on Oct. 5, 2023, and the Lady Jays made quite the splash, taking first place in all but one event. In two events, the Merrill Girls took first, second, and third place, effectively shutting out their competition, and in another two events, Merrill Girls took both first and second places.

The Merrill Girls took first place in the following events:
Event 2. 200 Yard Medley Relay, with Addison Jirovec, Olivia Pajtash, Marissa Miles, and Claire Jirovec coming in with a time of 2.02.37.
Event 4. 200 Yard Freestyle, with Olivia Pajtash coming in at 2:12.85.
[Note: Merrill also took second and third place in this event, with Emily Winter coming in at 2:22.63 and Deylah Schultz coming in at 2:28.93.]
Event 6. 200 Yard IM, with Marissa Miles coming in at 2:26.77.
Event 10. 100 Yard Butterfly, with Addison Jirovec coming in at 1:10.69.
[Note: Merrill’s Caroline Durbin came in second place with a time of 1:14.36.]
Event 12. 100 Yard Freestyle, with Marissa Miles coming in at 58.21.
Event 14. 500 Yard Freestyle, with Olivia Pajtash coming in at 5:59.78.
[Note: Merrill’s Patricia Priebe came in second place with a time of 6:44.14.]
Event 16. 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, with Claire Jirovec, Emily Winter, Brenna Jirovec, and Melissa Miles coming in with a time of 1:52.75.
Event 18. 100 Yard Backstroke, with Addison Jirovec coming in at 1:08.60.
Event 20. 100 Yard Breaststroke, with Emily Winter coming in at 1:24.73.
[Note: Merrill also took second and third place in this event, with Katelyn Klimek coming in at 1:28.86 and Brenna Jirovec coming in at 1:30.07.]
Event 22. 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, with Oliva Pajtash, Patricia Priebe, Caroline Durbin, and Addison Jirovec coming in with a time of 4:27.09.
