The Merrill Foundation, Inc. has awarded more than $12,000 to help maintain a safe environment for ice-related sports and activities at the Merrill Area Recreation Complex’s Smith Center.
Thousands of youths enjoy Smith Center’s rink through adult hockey, figure skating, and recreational skating every season. Zamboni batteries are a costly but necessary expense to help ensure safe ice conditions.
“Ice resurface equipment batteries are intended to last 6-8 years, and the Merrill Foundation thought this was an important investment to ensure the rink remains safe for local residents and visitors,” said Jeremy Cordova, President of the Merrill Foundation.
The Merrill Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt philanthropic organization created to support programs in the greater Merrill area. The Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including making distributions to local nonprofit organizations.
