Alvin L. Forster, age 84, died on June 11, 2023 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, Wisconsin. He was born in Merrill, Wisconsin on August 4, 1938 to the late Albert and Minnie (Schulte) Forster. Alvin and Donna Messerschmidt were happily married on May 27, 1961 in Merrill. She survives him after 62 years of marriage.

Alvin was a logger and truck driver who loved to hunt and fish. He was a loving father to Gail (David) Kaminski, Jill (Ed) Hoffmaster, and Amy (Dale) Kohnhorst. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Dan (Megan) Kaminski, Nick (Tracie) Kaminski, Mike Blaubach, Michele (Marshall) Hulce, Joshua (Mandi) Kohnhorst, Ashley (Dustin Beekman) Waldburger, and Adam (Jordyn) Kohnhorst, great grandchildren:  Drew, Mason, Layla, Kylie, Landan, Karson, Mariah, Mari, Mason, Mateo, Allie, Bailey, Maddie, Lacey, and Luna, brother: Walter (Mary Jane) Forster, sisters: Iona Fleishman, Helen Leavitt, and Delores (Luis) Heiser, sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Forster, Rosanne Klutz, Joyce Messerschmidt, and Pat Messerschmidt, brother-in-law: Rodney (Kim) Messerschmidt, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law: Hubert and Ruth Messerschmidt, five brothers: Emil, Earl, Gilbert, Donald, and Myron, and two sisters: Martha Winkleman, and Evelyn Frazier.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Waid Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 2:00 pm until the time of service also at the funeral home. An inurnment will take place at a later date at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers include all his grandchildren; Dan Kaminski, Nick Kaminski, Mike Blaubach, Michele Hulce, Joshua Kohnhorst, Ashley Waldburger, and Adam Kohnhorst. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Alvin. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Polireddy and the nurses at Pine Crest Special Care Unit.
