Hanig graduates from Minnesota State University

Minnesota State University, Mankato, awarded 2,494 degrees to 2,247 students at the end of the spring 2023 semester. Commencement ceremonies were held Friday, May 5, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. for the College of Business and at 6:00 p.m. for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and on Saturday, May 6, at 9:00 a.m. for the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, at 12:00 p.m. for the College of Education, and at 2:00 p.m. for the College of Allied Health and Nursing.
All ceremonies were held in Taylor Center’s Bresnan Arena on the Minnesota State Mankato campus.
From our area, Hugh Hanig of Merrill earned a BS in Aviation and graduated Cum Laude.

Area students named to Dean’s List at St. Norbert College

Two area students were named to the 2023 spring semester dean’s list at St. Norbert College:
• Alexus Aguilar Hernandez, Athens
• Elizabeth Hartson, Merrill
A minimum 3.5 grade point average is required for academic eligibility.

Bickerton named to SNHU President’s List

Mary Bickerton of Merrill was named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter 2023 President’s List. The winter terms run from January to May.
Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

Area students graduate from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

More than 3,100 students graduated with degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sunday, May 21, 2023, in Milwaukee.
From Merrill, the following students were awarded degrees during the commencement ceremony:
• Madison Baumgart, School of Education, Master of Science
• Brandon Clausen, Sheldon B. Lubar College of Business, Master of Science
• Alexis Slagoski, College of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Science
• Emily Weix, Peck School of the Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts

Merrill students named to Winona State University Dean’s List

Winona State University announced the Dean’s List for spring semester 2023.
The following Merrill students were named to the Dean’s List:
• Jaida Heinz
• Morgan Schaefer
To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be an undergraduate enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours for a grade) and achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
