LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE REPORTS

For week of 05/02/2023 – 05/08/2023

On 05/02/2023 a deputy on patrol attempted to stop a vehicle for defective exhaust on STH 86 in the Town of Bradley. The driver pulled into a random driveway to attempt to elude the deputy. When the deputy made contact with the driver, a 35-year-old Tomahawk man, the deputy recognized the subject and knew that there was a warrant for the driver’s arrest. The subject was arrested without incident for the warrant and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. He was also cited for fourth offense operating after revocation.
On 05/03/2023 deputies were dispatched to an address on Pine Ave. in the Town of Scott for a reported domestic dispute in progress. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, a 46-year-old Merrill woman, had injuries consistent with domestic battery. Deputies talked with the suspect, a 52-year-old Merrill man, and placed him under arrest for Domestic battery, several counts of felony, and misdemeanor bail jumping. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail. Another subject on scene, a 20-year-old male, was arrested on a warrant out of Marathon County and transported to the Marathon County line where custody of the subject was turned over to a Marathon County Deputy. No serious injuries were reported.
On 05/04/2023 deputies and fire and rescue were dispatched to the area of the W3700 block of STH 64 in the Town of Pine River for a reported two-vehicle crash with injuries. Responding deputies found that two vehicle were traveling E/B on STH 64 when the trailing vehicle struck the rear end of the lead vehicle. Further investigation revealed that it appeared as if the driver of the striking vehicle may have had a medical issue that had contributed to the vehicle crash. The driver refused medical transport; the crash is still under investigation.
On 05/04/2023 deputies were dispatched to the softball field at the intersection of CTH P and W for a theft complaint. It was reported that two parties were seen taking flood lights and wiring from the downed light poles. Deputies were provided a description of the suspects and their vehicle. Deputies did locate evidence left behind at the scene that was collected. Through further investigation, the deputies were able to develop two suspects, a 52-year-old Rhinelander man and a 58-year-old Rhinelander woman. Deputies requested Oneida County deputies to go to the suspect’s house and attempt contact. Oneida County deputies located the suspect vehicle along with the stolen property and the two suspects. Both suspects were arrested by Oneida County deputies and turned over to Lincoln County deputies. Both parties were transported to the Lincoln County Jail where they were booked on multiple criminal charges.
On 05/09/2023 deputies were sent to a business in the Town of Scott for a report of a male party threatening to shoot a female party. The victim, a 39-year-old Merrill woman, reported to investigating deputies that the suspect, a 22-year-old Merrill man, threatened the victim with a firearm, demanding sex. It was further reported that the suspect told the victim that she was not allowed to leave. The victim left the location and called the sheriff’s office for help. Contact was made with the suspect the following day and he was taken into custody. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked on a charge of first degree recklessly endangering safety, first degree sexual assault-use/dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.
On 05/10/2023 deputies were dispatched to USH 51 near CTH H in the Town of Rock Falls for a motorcycle crash with injuries. A motorcycle being driven by a 39-year-old Gleason man was being operated northbound on USH 51 when the motorcycle hit the rumble strip on the left side of the road. The driver then lost control of the vehicle and crashed in the median. A witness stated that the motorcycle was traveling at a fast rate of speed prior to the crash. The motorcycle driver stated he thought he was going 80 mph. The driver and only occupant of the motorcycle was injured and transported by Merrill ambulance to Wausau Aspirus Hospital. The crash is still under investigation.
During this week period there were seven reported car deer crashes.
