MERRILL POLICE REPORTS

05-01-23
At approximately 3:47 p.m. officers were dispatched to an area in the city for battery involving three juveniles. The reporting party observed two juveniles hit another juvenile. Officers arrived in the area; however, they were unable to locate the victim or the suspects. This investigation is ongoing at this time.
At approximately 8:24 p.m. an officer located a suspicious vehicle and made contact. When the occupants rolled down the window, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana. The occupants of the vehicles, who were juveniles, were found to have a zip lock bag with a small amount of a green leafy substance which was determined to be marijuana. Both juveniles were cited for possession of THC.

05-02-23
At 11:34 a.m. officers responded to a disorderly conduct situation. A female party stated that her roommate’s mother wanted to get her son into rehab and the mother was making threats toward her, as she thought she was interfering with getting her son into rehab. Officers went and spoke to the female and male parties who stated that they planned on going to rehab tomorrow. The officer then went and explained to the mother that her son was an adult and can make his own decisions, so she can’t force him into anything. The parties went their separate ways.
At 2:02 p.m. officers responded to Probation and Parole to take a female into custody for a probation violation. Officers took the female into custody without incident.

05-03-23
At 4:25 p.m. officers were dispatched to Normal Park in regards to juveniles damaging the railing on the park gazebo. The juveniles were located and an estimate for the damage will be obtained from the Parks and Recreation Department.
At 5:01 p.m. officers were dispatched to a local business for a report of a male party who had an active warrant through the Department of Corrections. Officers made contact with the suspect and arrested him for the felony warrant. The suspect was transported and booked into the Lincoln County Jail without incident.

05-04-23
At 5:17 p.m. an officer was dispatched to a tavern for a report of an intoxicated female. Staff did not want the intoxicated female driving her scooter home and requested police assistance. Officer made contact with the intoxicated female and assisted in providing her a ride home.
At 11:00 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop on N. Memorial Dr. and Thielman St. The officer conducted a search of the vehicle because of a strong odor of marijuana. The driver received a municipal citation for possession of THC and traffic citations for failing to stop at a stop sign and no insurance.

05-05-23
At 1:55 p.m. an officer took a report of a damaged window that would have occurred in April at a residence. The investigation is ongoing.
At 7:41 p.m. an officer observed a male subject walking on W. Main St. who was found to have a warrant for his arrest through Marathon County. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail.
At 7:54 p.m. an officer took a report of a theft of money from a residence. A suspect was identified and the investigation is ongoing.

05-07-23
At 1:29 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of E. Sixth St. for a report of an intoxicated individual wandering around trying to get into different residences. An officer located the male subject who would not identify himself. He was eventually taken into custody and found to have a warrant for his arrest. He was transported to the jail on charges of disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer, and a probation warrant.
