Marland G. Gennrich, 87, of Gleason, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Marland was born July 15, 1935, in Lincoln County, son of the late August and Irene (Marshall) Gennrich. He married Shirley Bloechl on August 24, 1957, at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Merrill. Marland was a dairy farmer for most of his life, and also worked for Standard Oil, Trantow’s, and Fox Point Sportswear. He also drove school bus, and drove Geri-Van, taking people to their medical appointments. Through the years, Marland and Shirley supported the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Arbor Day Foundation. Marland was instrumental in helping get the ‘Harrison Ski Hill’ built and running. He was an original ‘Tall Tales Hunting Club’ member. He loved attending his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s sporting and school events. He was a great wrestling fan and loved playing ball. Marland enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He and Shirley loved to travel. Together they made a trip to Switzerland, Austria, and several other countries with the National Ski Patrol on a skiing expedition. Other places they’ve traveled to include Hawaii, Niagara Falls, Branson, Nashville, and Florida. They also travelled to California and went to ‘The Price is Right.’ Later in life Marland enjoyed doing sticker books and jigsaw puzzles, the one-thousand-piece ones really kept him going. All in all, the road through life was wonderful.
