On April 7, 2023, Connexus Credit Union advised they will donate $5,000 to St. Vincent de Paul of Merrill, through their philanthropic program, Connexus Cares. This donation is in response to their request for support to replace faulty electrical equipment in their Main Street store in Merrill.
The St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Merrill accepts donations to support their Outreach Services program, which helps community members with emergency needs such as Wisconsin Public Service disconnections, rental evictions, medical bills, vehicle repairs, diapers, food, gas, and other related emergencies. Connexus Cares’ support of this necessary upgrade ensures that funds raised through the thrift store can go directly to community members in need.
In a joint statement, Outreach Manager Sue Norenberg and Conference President Freida Swanson shared the critical need for support at St. Vincent de Paul. “We do foresee many requests coming into our programming in the very near future due to COVID-based support ending, Foodshare family monies returning to pre-COVID amounts, and the moratorium for heating billings ending soon. We feel blessed that Connexus Credit Union has partnered with St. Vincent de Paul’s mission in the Merrill area.”
