Rotary Club of Merrill to Adopt-a-Highway

The Rotary Club of Merrill announced it will participate in the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program. Beginning in April 2023, the club will be responsible for cleaning the segment of WIS Hwy. 17 from Barnes Creek to Sunrise Rd.
The club plans to organize cleanup days once a month, beginning once the snow has thawed and standing water is gone. Dates will be posted to the club’s website at https://www.merrillrotary.org, and the public is welcome to join. Refreshments will be served at the end of each service project day.
The Adopt-A-Highway program is a statewide initiative that encourages organizations to “adopt” a segment of highway and commit to cleaning it up at least twice a year. The program helps keep Wisconsin’s roadsides clean and promotes environmental sustainability.
The Rotary Club of Merrill is committed to promoting the Rotary Pillars of service, which include community service, vocational service, international service, and youth service. The club’s participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program aligns with its commitment to protecting the environment and serving the local community.
“By participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program, we are demonstrating our commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and keeping our community clean,” said Rotary Club of Merrill President Rob Moore. “We encourage members of the community to join us in this effort and help make a positive impact in our community.”
