Alice M. Steen

Alice M. Steen, 84, of Rib Lake, died Thursday, March 23, 2023 at her home while under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in the town of Greenwood, with Rev. Kenneth Bittorf officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and may go to Hope Hospice or to St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Alice was born July 25, 1938 in Merrill to Florian and Bertha (Wittwer) Zogg.  She graduated from Merrill High School in 1956. On August 27, 1960, Alice married Ervin Steen.  They resided in the town of Greenwood. Alice worked as farmer, secretary, nursing home aide and a homemaker.  She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greenwood where she was active in the ladies aide and the choir.  She enjoyed camping, collecting bells and brassware, gardening, going for walks, was a member of the Sweet Adelines Choir, and was a member of the Friday Night Dartball League for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Ervin of Rib Lake; daughter, Debbie (Roger) Byrd; son, Brian Steen, all of Rib Lake; siblings, Andrew Zogg of Merrill, Paul Zogg of Avon, MT; brother-in-law, Eugene (Donna Otto) Stahel of Wausau; sister-in-law, Irene Higgins of Medford; grandchildren, Steven Byrd, Gregory (April) Byrd, all of Medford; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Frank and Frieda Steen; sisters, Elizabeth (Victor) Lipka, Mary Ann Stahel, Joyce (Leroy) Woller; brother-in-law, Dick Higgins; nieces, Lynette Zogg and Sherri Pfaff; nephew, Bradley Zogg; and grandson, Michael Byrd.
