On Feb. 4 and 5, 2023, the Merrill Sixth Grade Boys Travel Basketball Team took first place at the Wausau Noon Optimist Tournament. That win punched their ticket and got them invited to the 2023 Wisconsin Middle School Basketball State Championship in Waukesha on March 17-19.
