MFD presents life-saving skills demonstration

In January, Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during an NFL game.  A trainer using CPR and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) saved his life. Would you know what to do if you saw someone having a health crisis?
On Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 9:30-11:00 a.m., the Merrill Fire Department will be demonstrating basic life-saving skills to Merrill citizens. A free program, open to the public and all ages, will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 300 Logan St., Merrill, across from Prairie River Middle School.
The presentation will cover the most recent changes in emergency basics, including new CPR guidelines, use of an AED, the Heimlich maneuver, and “Stop the Bleed,” as time allows. This demonstration is intended to provide information on how to react in an emergency and is not for certification purposes.
Information will be provided on how to become certified in CPR.
Teenagers, parents, mid-lifers, and seniors will benefit from knowing basic life-saving measures.  Registration is not required.
